Privacy
The short version
Your images and the files made from them are deleted within 24 hours of upload, or within 24 hours of paying if you buy one. There are no ads and no tracking tags from other companies, and you don't need an account. We count visits ourselves, with a random number your browser keeps for the tab, not with cookies or your IP address. If you subscribe, Stripe handles the card and we keep your email and Stripe customer number.
Your images
We store the image you upload and the files made from it only to show you the result and let you download it. Each upload is kept for 23 hours, or for 23 hours after you pay if you buy it; a clean-up that runs twice an hour then deletes it. We don't look at your images, share them, or use them to train anything.
What we keep
- For each image, until it's deleted: a random job number, when it was made, the file type, and a scrambled form of your IP address that changes every day, used only to stop abuse.
- If you subscribe: your email, your Stripe customer number, and whether your subscription is active. We keep these while you subscribe and afterwards for our records; email us to have them deleted.
- If you buy one image: Stripe's reference for that payment and when you paid, kept with the image and deleted with it.
- If you ask for a sign-in link: a scrambled copy of the link's code, deleted within a day.
- If you email support: your message and our reply.
- Server logs: our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, the page requested, the site that linked to it, and the time) for about two weeks. We use them for security and to fix problems.
- Visit counts: while you're on the site, your browser sends us short notes: the page you opened and the later pages you view, the website that sent you (its name only, like google.com), whether you came from an ad and from which ad network (Google or Microsoft), never the ad's click code, and whether you uploaded an image, saw the preview, tried to download, downloaded a file (and its format), used the free SVG checker, went to checkout or paid (and which plan). The notes carry a random number your browser makes for that tab and forgets when you close it. No cookie, IP address, browser details, image, file name or job number is kept with them. We use them only to count visits and to see which pages and ads help people, and we delete them after 90 days. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it sends no notes.
Cookies and storage
One cookie, set when you subscribe or sign in, keeps you signed in on this device for up to 400 days. It holds no tracking and nothing else uses it. Buying one image sets no cookie.
Your browser also remembers which machine you picked and, so you can pick up your last image, that image's job number and settings. Both stay on your device. When you go to checkout, the image or batch you were working on is kept in that tab so it reopens when you come back, and goes when you close the tab. While a tab is open it also holds that tab's random visit number (see Visit counts); it goes when you close the tab.
Support email
Email sent to support@meltpixels.com goes to our support inbox, which Migadu hosts. An AI assistant (Anthropic's Claude) helps us sort it and draft replies. A person reads and approves every reply before it is sent; the drafts reach that person through a messaging app (Telegram).
Who else sees anything
- Stripe takes payments; their privacy policy covers your card details.
- Hetzner hosts our server, in the United States.
- Namecheap runs our domain and DNS.
- Migadu hosts our support mailbox, on servers in France, and sends our email (sign-in links and the confirmation when you subscribe), so it sees your email address when we write to you.
- Anthropic (Claude) sees support email to help sort it and draft replies.
- Telegram carries those drafts to the person who approves them.
We don't sell or share personal information.
Your choices
To see or delete what we hold about you, email support@meltpixels.com from the address you paid with. Visit notes can't be tied to you, so we can't find or delete them on request; they're deleted after 90 days.
